My name is Eli Knight, and I have trained in various martial arts most of my life, but none of them hold such a place in my heart as jiu-jitsu. Since studying jiu-jitsu, I have found a vehicle to understanding life around me better. I see the technique in everything now, and strive to do things more technically, more efficiently. Life is precious, and so much time and effort is wasted, leading to feelings of regret and remorse. So, when something comes along that helps you appreciate and make the most out of life, you treasure it and refine it as an art. This is what jiu-jitsu means to me.
I don’t expect that everyone will feel the same about training. For different people, different activities and arts may be more aptly suited, but for those I can reach with jiu-jitsu, I will spread the power and the beauty of it as best I am able. I believe in showing not only the movements and techniques, but the underlying principles and theory in my best effort to convey a holistic approach to training. It’s the journey that counts, and I want those I help on that journey to get the most benefit out of it.
My approach is to explain the technical aspects of jiu-jitsu as a vehicle for the principles and to help individuals find their way of making jiu-jitsu their own. I believe that jiu-jitsu is a modifiable martial art, which can be adapted to fit the particular needs, abilities or disabilities of anyone. I am passionate about jiu-jitsu, and I do my best to put this passion to work in every lesson I teach, whether to the elementary school student with a bully problem, or the seasoned athlete preparing for his MMA fight. I have the knowledge and experience to customize the training for maximum benefit to the individual.
